Launching in 2027, NASA’s Dragonfly is a creative kind of spacecraft that will study and explore Saturn’s moon Titan. The craft is an octocopter (a dual- quadcopter) making it the first multi-rotor to be used by NASA in outer space, and also the first spacecraft to ever visit Titan. The spacecraft has no solar panels because not much sunlight reaches the surface of Titan; however, it’s powered by a Multi-Mission Radioisotope Thermo-electric Generator which is a kind of long lifetime battery. Another very special element is how the Dragon is designed to hop like a frog (performing multiple flights) which will allow it to study both the surface and atmosphere of Titan more accurately and to cover a large area of space in a short time.
