Hayabusa-2: A JAXA spacecraft designed for a sample retrieval mission to asteroid “Ryugu.” The spacecraft was launched back in 2014 and returned holding samples earlier this December, its dimensions without the solar panels are 1.0 x 1.6 x 1.4 meters (3.2 feet x 5.2 feet x 4.5 feet.)
What makes Hayabusa special, is how it released the sample capsule to fall on Earth, then went on again into space to a new destination; asteroid 1998 KY26. Mounted on top of the Hayabusa spacecraft are three small rovers and a lander that landed on the asteroid and collected data before sample gathering.
An impactor is also onboard Hayabusa and was dropped on the asteroid to create a crater in order to gather subsurface samples.
